Wooden House Books

Lee con Lulú: Second Grade Spanish Reader is a Spanish reading comprehension book for children ages 7 to 8 in dual-language and immersion programs. It picks up where the first grade book leaves off: the stories are a little longer and told in the past tense.

There are 12 funny stories, including a turtle that comes to class, a cake that won't stop growing and a stubborn piñata. Every story has its own audio track in Spanish. Scan the code in the book to listen and read along.

Inside you'll find:

  • 48 comprehension questions, four per story, ending with a short written answer
  • 48 key words, four in every story, to read, trace and write, with pronunciation help
  • A word search, letter scrambles, sequencing pages, matching games and dot-to-dots
  • Lulú the hummingbird hiding in every story, plus pictures to color
  • A reading log and a completion diploma

The answer key explains every answer with a short note in English, so you can help even if you don't speak Spanish. Teachers get a skills page that matches the questions to Common Core reading standards for second grade.

The Spanish is neutral Latin American Spanish written by a bilingual educator, not machine translation.
