My Friendship Journal for Kids

Wooden House Books

My Friendship Journal for Kids gives children ages 6 to 9 one friendly page a day. It takes a few quiet minutes, and there are no wrong answers.

The journal runs for eight weeks. Each week opens with a friend skill and word-for-word scripts for the hard moments, like "Can I play?" or "Can we try again?" Seven daily pages follow.

  • 56 daily check-ins: someone I talked to today, something kind I did, something kind someone did for me, and a box to draw the day's best friend-moment.
  • 8 weekly friend skills: Saying Hello, the Kind Words Jar, Good Listening, Sharing and Taking Turns, When Friends Fight, Feeling Left Out, Everyone's Different, and A Friend to Myself.
  • A friend-skills checklist on each daily page: shared, listened, helped, invited someone in, cheered someone on, took turns.
  • A wins tracker to color in, plus a friendship promise and a look-how-I-grew page at the end.
  • Two hidden heart friends to spot on the daily pages.

The prompts ask about "someone," never a best friend, so a child going through a lonely stretch can still fill in every page. Small wins count, and kids can skip a day if they need to. The pages are in color, with watercolor illustrations.
